Baby's First EEG

EEG

So the next step on my road to head wellness brought me to a Neurologist who performed an EEG on me.  Or as our pal Wiki states: ‘Electroencephalography (EEG) is the measurement of electrical activity produced by the brain as recorded from electrodes placed on the scalp.’

Once they had me all electroded up, they proceeded to shock me on both my writs and my ankle.  What this did was make my thumb and toes move on their own, thus recording how quickly messages get from the shock to my brain and back to produce the twitch.  It was actually really cool, and not at all painful as the words ‘electric shock’ would have you think.  After the shocking came another test where I put on headphones and listed to annoying clicking for 10 minutes.  That wasn’t so bad either.  In fact I’m pretty sure I could of fallen asleep if I really wanted to.

I have to wait for the results of the tests, but something tells me it went great.  So I am not too concerned.  I’ll be sure to update when I gets those.

So all in all, as nervous as I was for these tests, they were painless.  (I have no idea why I was expecting so much pain.  I was waiting to walk in there for a damn spinal tap or something.) The only down side? I now have electrode goo in my hair. Hot.
